Pumping...

posted 6th Dec
Are there any momma's who only or mostly pump for their child(ren)?

If you only pump, how do you manage to keep your supply up, or increase your supply?

I do   Have been for over 9 months. I don't do anything, I've always had a pretty good supply. You can pump more often or get the Mother's Milk Tea. I've never tried it but my best friend did and said it worked really good.

Thanks! I will definitely try the tea. DD is only 3 weeks but we have had some issues lately, so I've been mostly pumping but I can only get a little over 2oz every time I pump but she is eating almost 4oz at each feeding.

Definitely pump more often if you can. I was the same way the first month or 2. It was tough but then I started getting more and more and now I can go almost 6 hours without pumping and I pump for 15 mins, sometimes 10. You'll get there and the tea should help.

I pumped exclusively for 6 months after I stopped nursing. I pumped every 3 to 4 hours, 10 - 15 minutes, and always at least once between midnight and 5 AM. I didn't get much at first, maybe only an ounce, but after several days I was able to get 4 - 6 out of each side!   I did have to supplement with formula for a couple when I switched over to pumping.

The pump you use makes a big difference, too. I used the Medela Pump in Style. What else.... oh yeah, and I started eating oatmeal every morning, and noticed an increase in my supply!

Good luck...sorry for my rambling

I have a three week old son and I only pump. My son doesn't want to breastfeed and its a little upsetting but pumping is alot easier. I also have a two year who demands alot of attention. I pump after every feeding which is every two hours.I am watching because I want to increase my supply I currently only get about 3 oz in my right boob each pump and about 2 oz in my left.

I have an Avent Dual Pump, and I just heard about the oatmeal thing so I am trying to eat it...but its nasty, lol. I hope I can get my supply to increase soon, I really don't like giving DD formula, and she doesn't seem to care for it much either.

I've always heard good things about Avent pumps.

Are you eating the oatmeal plain?? I always had the flavored instant kind. I've heard you're not suppose to use instant, but it worked for me. And I know what you mean about the formula, it killed me having to use it. I did mix it in with breastmilk when I could.

I've tried mixing some sugar or fruit into it and it is still gross, but I'm not using the instant kind. I might see if the instant will work.
