Quoting Latoshia:" I am just curious if anyone knew anything about if different hospitals offer multiple choices on how ... [snip!] ... something the doctor or hospital had to agree to or if you had to use a midwife or something to have the options. Any one know?"You have to check with the specific hospitals because some are set up for water births and some are not. If you really want a more natural birth I highly suggest a birth center with midwives.
Quoting Will☮Creedence:" Yeah. Ask your doctor what the hospital allows. Mine didnt allow water births or even a labor tub. It ... [snip!] ... hospitals do. They also have different "tools" to labor with rather than just being strapped to a bed with monitors on you "Yes plus you can eat, drink, have whoever you want there, move around, etc, etc. Basically it's VERY free and awesome. I loved my birth center and we're going to the same place for the second.

Quoting Will☮Creedence:" *sigh* I wish we had those around here. I'd probably opt for that rather than going straight to a home birth. I'll take anything over a hospital though lol"Oh yeah if I didn't have that option I'd probably go home birth too. I don't want to have a birth where I'm having to fight for what I want, where as at the birth center they pretty much automatically do everything (or NOT do) I want anyway.
Quoting someonesangel:" You can have it your way no matter where your at. Don't let anyone, mostly hospitals tell you otherwise. ... [snip!] ... danger with you or the baby you might have to give in a bit but if everything is low risk and healthy, it's all your choice."
Quoting Latoshia:" All of this is great information. Thank you ladies. My experience with my daughter was okay. I just would ... [snip!] ... Hopefully I can get some good news out of it. I guess if I won't get much of a choice then I'll look into other options."
