22 week preemie

Correct me if I'm wrong but most hospitals are iffy about saving 23 weekers let alone a 22 weeker. This girl claims her son was born at 2222 weeks, breathing on his own and now 4 weeks later he is home.

Then her dd must have been waaaay off. I don't think it's possible for a 22 Weeker to breathe on their own.

If she's making that up, that's really smurfed up. Maybe they had her due date wrong?

4 weeks there no way they would keep the baby til it original due date. And I though you had be 24 weeks before they would save the baby?

My 32 weeker didn't breathe on her own. And she stayed for 3 months. Something is way off

her DD must have been way off then. no way a 22 weeker would be breathing on its own and home within a few weeks

what was her due date?...I see it being physically impossible for a 26 week baby to be able to just go home...

In most hospitals this is correct. I'm sure some would go to 22 weeks though

Definitely lying

No way. Something with that is off.
My son was born at 35.2 weeks and all the nurses were amazed that he didn't need breathing help. He was in there for 11 days. A 22 weeker would be in the NICU for months.

The earliest I have ever heard survive was 23 weeks 3 days....I highly doubt 22 weeks unless someone was way off in calculating a due date. No way in hell would this baby be breathing on their own and hardly ever do babies born that early ever leave the hosp before their due date. I call bullsmurf

It's very possible for a 22 weeker to survive but there is no way it was breating on it's own and there is no way they let it go home a month later. DH's sister was born at 22 weeks (in 1987) and she was in the hospital until after her EDD.
quoteposted 6th Dec
At 22 weeks, most hospitals won't try to save babies. Hospitals are pretty iffy about saving 23 weekers. With my first baby (@23 weeks), we were offered comfort care (oxygen support, morphine) but nothing more than that. There was 1 baby that survived at 22 weeks, but she was in the NICU way past her due date (months and months).

and at 22 weeks aren't their lungs JUST beginning to develop?..I mean, how can that baby be breathing on its own?

I'm not sure of her due date but I even asked if she meant 32 weeks and she said no 22 weeks. She refuses to tell me anymore and says not all pregnancies are the same. She's crazy
