re: Reported death link to the flu.

I didn't get it this year, but my daughter and DF did.

I didn't get one this year and neither did my baby. I got the flu and was miserable. It was worse than being pregnant, fever of 1041+, up ALL night. Next year I will be getting a flu shot.

I have never been vaxed for it and never had the flu.

My daughter hasn't been and this one won't be either.

My husband got one and had to call off work from being sick. LO and I don't and we're fine.

We are a non vaccinating family.

I don't get it because whenever I do get the flu (rarely) it's not even that bad.

She most likely already had a compromised immune system and died from complications of the flu rather than the flu itself.

I've gotten it for the last 3 years and I've never had any side effects. DD and DH also get it because if DD were to get the flu, it could be very bad and we're not willing to take the risk.

i got one last yr bcuz of my new born son and got one this yr bcuz my dr was really concerned about the news of ppl dying. other than the past 2 yrs i dont usually get the shot it always makes me sick

we usually get it, but this year we just haven't had the time.
now dd has had the flu all week. her pedi actually admitted that the vaccine is a joke this year; it doesn't vax against the mutated strains that are already going around.

That's what happens and you will see it more and more with different viruses/bacteria. They evolve and are not susceptible to the vaccine or antibiotics anymore. That's why you are starting to see antibiotic resistant bacteria and why we rarely give medication around our house.

her pedi is very pro-vax, so her honesty about the flu shot surprised me.

Exactly this.

The flu, itself, doesn't kill people. Most people who get it can fight it off and recover. Problem is, people with compromised immunity can end up with a secondary infection such as pneumonia. Again, with a compromised immune system, the pneumonia could very well kill someone.

No way...My son had the flu at nine months old...not a big deal..He's healthy and I feed him well and he was just fine...that was the only year he received the flu shot and only year he got the flu
