Spanking

Why is it that so many people think if you don't spank your kid they will be spoiled rotten? I have no intentions of ever spanking DS but I can guarantee you he will not be a spoiled brat.
At our family thanksgiving my cousins girlfriend, who just had her baby a couple of months ago, asked me when I started spanking DS. He's only 11 months old. I told her I hadn't and I wouldn't be spanking him. He will listen to me or there will be some other form of punishment. She told me she's already started popping her son on the hand if he does something she doesn't like at 2 months old!!

Am I wrong? Or is it possible to raise a non spoiled child without spanking?

Thats wrong. An infant has no knowledge of right from wrong. there are alot of D&D about spanking. but if it is used it should be used when the child is able to comprehend the difference between right and wrong

I don't think you have to spank to raise good kids. We spank, if needed, but I wouldn't if my kids didn't respond to it (or if they will respond to something better.)

I don't spank either of my boys and they are in no way spoiled!
They listen fairly well, i mean all kids have off days.
It is VERY possible.

Grabbing her hair and ear rings. In my mind I was like take the ear rings off and put your hair up. He can't help it.

Wtf is she doing!!! Ill be spanking for disrespectful actions at like 4 and up but not rely solely on that punishment. You can use other forms and be effective without spanking. But I do think spanking is a good one lol I got whooped!

This is how I look at it TO EACH THEIR OWN. Do what you think is right for you and your child and let others do the same. I am not saying is right or wrong.

That is nuts. No baby needs to be spanked, ever.

Who spanks a baby?  

We spank. But like...once a month. And not DD because she's still little. Just DS. And its a last resort.

I see nothing wrong with parents who don't spank though. Whatever works best for you and yours.

And without DS being older I really have no idea if we would need to resort to spanking later on but I'm not even considering it until he shows me time outs or something like that wouldn't be effective. I have no problem with parents that choose to spank but not at 2 months old.
