Hitting a 2 month old is horrible and there is nothing wrong with not spanking a child. Everyone disciplines their children differently

I don't spank. My 4 yr old step-DD gets spanked at her house by her mom and was still horribly behaved, mouthy, rude, etc. She stayed with us during the summer and I broke her of all those habits. DF wanted to spank her, but I told him what I was doing during the day while he was at work and that spanking wasn't going to do any good with her...Her mom has proven that. It took less than a month, but we returned her to her mother as a happy, affectionate, polite child with incredible manners.
It only took a couple of months of spanking for her mother to completely undo all my hard work.
Does it get difficult to not spank? Yes, it does. Especially if you were raised in a household where you were spanked (I was downright abused, not just popped here and there). But I breathe and I come up with a different punishment...or we talk and I find out why she is misbehaving. I'll do the same with my baby.
I don't think kids should be spanked, but as long as a child isn't being outright abused, I mind my business.

My daughter is 4 months old I plan to use spanding when needed when she is older right now she is starting to understand her environment we have started tapping her hand and telling her no, that hurts, no thats not yours when she graps hair, earrings, my nose (recent sinus surgery yay) but its like u would do when u touch somebodys shoulder very gently and more for getting attention then anything. I know she doesnt understand right from wrong yet but she does understand repeativtive behavior...otherwise she wouldnt get excited when I lay her on the bathroom floor to start a bath...Then again mine is 4 months...when she was two she was just starting to get her hands going so she grabs stuff big deal now at 4 months old, 20 lbs 30 inchs long she hurts when she grabs things.
