I agree in some circumstances like my hubby and myself, I was 14 and he was 18 when we got together however we are still together over 7 years and going strong. I do think that it should be statutory if the older party deceives in some way the younger party into having sex

I disagree but hopefully for your sake your teacher agrees with you.

It's hard because it's not black and white, there are a WHOLE bunch of gray area. I know most states have an age of consent and on top of that the 4 year rule. NY is not one of them. In NY anyone OVER 18 who has sex with ANYONE under 17 can get charged with statutory rape. Which to me, is kind of wrong...

I mean, what about a 16 and 19 year old? Or a 16 and 18 year old? But whatever, it's there to protect, it just sucks that it causes so many problems for people who don't deserve them.
