re: Babys last name...

Most states legally he can't FORCE you to use his last name if you are not married. Here in SC the mother has full custody of the child at birth if the parents are not married unless the father goes to court to petition for shiz. My son has my maiden name, I wasn't comfortable giving him his birth father name - I wanted to share a name with my son. Now that I am remarried we are discussing my husband adopting him and we are going to hypenate - my maiden name and my new last name.
I say give him YOUR last name. If you too marry it isn't hard to switch his last name too but its hell to switch it back.

I gave my daughter her biological father's last name when she was born, and 6 months later we broke up and he doesnt see her. She has no idea who he is. Now that she is in preschool and learning how to write her name it is a very confusing to her that she doesnt have the same name as me or her "dad". (He's my fiancee n been there for her since she was 9 months old.) I would give your child your last name. My mom told me to give my daughter my last name, but I didnt listen and now I really regret it. I want to have her name changed, but I have to come up with the money first...
