re: Really, really worried

posted 6th Dec
I think I'm gonna call my Mom to see if she can come over and take my younger daughter for the day...I don't think she'd do well sitting in emergency for however long...

I'm hopefully hitting emergency in 20 minutes, if my doctor doesn't call back...I don't like that it's only keeping to 102 with tylenol...

Like I don't freak out if it is just a fever because my son randomly gets fevers a lot and that is something you can ask about at a check up.

I didn't say to wait to take her anywhere dumbass. Learn some reading comprehension. I said take her to the Doctor, I never said wait. I said it's not dangerous until it gets to 105, but to still take her in. Oh, by the way, all these Doctors who've told you 102 is so horrible.... well the Academy that accredits them says it's perfectly fine.

When to take your child to the Emergency Room?􀀀
Children can have extremely high fevers when they are sick. It’s not at all uncommon to see fevers of 104 or 105. Fever􀀀
generally becomes dangerous at around 106 or above, where it has the potential to cause brain damage or other serious􀀀
problems. Generally speaking, if your child’s temperature hits 105, you should call a pediatrician immediately. Explain􀀀
the symptoms and follow their advice. In infants, you should call your doctor immediately if your baby’s temperature is􀀀
much higher than the guidelines listed above. Your physician will advise you on an appropriate course of action.􀀀

I think it all depends on the child. My step sister had a high fever of 105 + when she was 2. And she has severe brain damage now.

calm your ass down. you ARE wrong 102.3 is a pathetic fever that does not warrant emergency care. Only time is at 104 and you cant lower fever after administering tylenol.

okay yes, and if you read my full explanation i said if that 102 fever came with other concerning symptoms then yes maybe take her in but if its JUST a fever 102 is not too concerning. last time my son was sick he got up to 103 but was still acting fine. i called plenty of times to the nurses line, brought him to the doctors ect and they ALL told me to not just automatically rush him to the er and not to be TOO concerned til his fever hit 104 OR if there were other alarming symptoms. he was sick for a week straight and once his fever hit 104, and he actually started to act lethargic then we brought him in. even there with the fever, they will first give the child motrin and WAIT to see if it goes down before doing too much

Seek immediate medical help if your child has:
• A fever and is under 3 months old
• A fever of 105ºF (40.6ºC) or higher
Oh look, we were right. Read that site before you give fever advice next time.

You said it isn't to be worried about till it hits 105. Now if there was a stupid person taking care of their child they could have taken that and been like Oh ok and just wait it out until their child dies. You need comprehension of parents these days who trust the internet more than their doctors. Like you for instance.

Yet another smurfing stupid parent who thinks the internet is right.

Have fun killing your children.

That and the potential for dehydration. I don't really bat an eye at that "fever"

Yeah, I agree...It's maybe the combo that's freaking me out...Usually when she has a fever she's still being herself...I've just never seen her so out of it...

My Mom's here in 5, so I'm gonna go get them ready to go...Thanks for the advice!

i got my information about not being too concerned til the fever hits 104 from my doctor, multiple ones actually, and the plenty of nurses i talked to every time i called the nurses line. so apparently all the people i spoke with and got the SAME information from were all stupid and just wanted me to put my child at risk
