Induction

posted 6th Dec
I am 41 weeks and 3 days now, I have a unfavorable cervix. It doesnt seem to understand that now its supposed to open and let baby out. Monday the dr wants to do the foley bulb (ballon cathater in cervix) with a induction scheduled for tuesday morning. I could have had it done this week but I told him i wanted to wait until 42 weeks. Now I am kinda rethinking this. That I should get induced sooner. I know i can hang out til monday for the balloon and tuesday for the breaking of my water and pit. but at the same time i'm wanting it done sooner.
thoughts that go either way would be nice.

I doubt your doctor will now. It's about to be the weekend and I haven't heard of weekend inductions before.

Keep in mind that due dates can be off. I would probably wait, but then again, I'm not in your shoes. Hopefully the foley bulb does the trick and you don't Pit.

I hope i dont have to they dont think ill be able to haev a epidural. And I'd rather be up and moving to help labor move along. I've tried everything to get things moving on their own. I am starting to feel depressed like my baby will never get here. I know i should just enjoy one more weekend of the the only way my sleep is interupted is by having to roll over and fall back asleep. But everyone has had their babies all my friends even one who wasnt due until the 20th (her son is fine with a minor liver issue since its not fully functioning but hes doing great) and finding out yesterday that the babies dad is getting married with the girl he cheated on me with. I am just feeling kinda down.

Oh momma I am sorry!

Try to relax. I was pregnant at the same time as my niece & due 1 day apart. I had mine at 37 weeks & she had hers at 41 weeks & it did NOT look like she was ever going into labor until viola - her water broke & contractions started at exactly the same moment. It really did look like the movies show it to be. LOL And all pregnancy I kept telling her that "never happens" ...lol You never know. I hope your baby makes an appearance ASAP. Have you told her that her lease is up?

I did tell little guy about Nov.4 he had a eviction notice and 30 days to exit the uterus. I dont think he got the message. lol. The receptionists at the DR's yesterday came out and told him he needs to get out of his mommy's belly!

I was okay with going to 42 weeks because i know so many women who went to 42 (some almost 43) and their babies are great. I think I want him here sooner becaue of feeling down. I am just realizing how much I miss having someone to cuddle at night watch movies with talk to in the car etc.

He'll get here soon. I think it is normal to feel super anxious at the tail end & the closer it gets, the worse it is, becuase at 37 weeks I wasn't feeling that way because I wasn't thinking I was at "the end" even though I DID keep telling Dh I didnt' think I would be pregnan tmuch longer as I am petite & I felt like I couldn't get bigger lol.

For real though, in a short bit you will have more cuddling than you ever thought possible. Hang in there momma. You are DEFINITELY in the home stretch now. All I did at the end was take hot showers, ove r& over over & voer again. Otherwise everything hurt (back/hips/knees).

I personally would recommend having a talk with your doctor about induction methods. I personally don't like the foley method. It seems like a very violent method of induction - literally forces the cervix open to 4cm quickly. I honestly can't think of a more violent way to induce someone. other medical forms of cervical rippening would include cervidil and cytotec. I know around here very few doctors use the foley - looked at as an outdated method. I have seen great success with cytotec (when used correctly) and ok success with cervidil. I guess I would suggest first 1) relaxing - the more anxious you are the less likely you are to dilate. 2) may want to start pumping 1-3 times per day for 15 min in conjunction with the EPO. studies have proven that it can increase the milk supply after delivery in addition to causing contractions that may rippen the cervix. EPO and other "natural" methods of induction take weeks to be effective. I personally have had success with it and so has a co-worker. If I can help further please PM me

I would never allow cytotec to be used on me. Ever.

Just saying.

I totally would and I work with it regularly and am well aware of it's risks and benefits. But that's just me ... and 12 years experience with it.
