Breast Milk

posted 6th Dec
I feel so retarded sometimes b/c of all my ?'s but i'm a new mommy so it's ok

Anyway... I have colostrum right now (duh) but i have to squeeze my nip to see it and most of the time it doesn't come out....(i get curious).
In other words, i don't really leak AT ALL. Does that mean i won't be able to BF b/c it's (the actual milk) not producing enough? Or does it only really start to flow after i give birth??

Your milk will come in within a few days of giving birth.

Yes, they will live off colostrum til your milk comes in. Their stomach is the size of a grape when they're born (or so I've been told).

The colostrum is "the first food" but honestly its not your milk. Your milk doesn't start producing until the placenta seperates from the uterine wall. You will have enough colostrum for baby so don't worry.

Leaking during pregnancy happens to some but not all. It really is of no concern etiher way. Colostrum is what you have the first few days after birth & it can take up to a week for mature milk to start to come in. No worries.

The itching is your milk ducts maturing & blood supply to your breasts increasing. It's crazy annoying.
