Melatonin help

Okay, so I laid out a melatonin tablet so that I could take it before bed. I havent been sleeping well so I thought it would help. We just got a new puppy and I have been trying to potty train him. I saw that he was about to pee, so I ran over, picked him up, and went outside. My almost 6 month old was having tummy time on his mat. Well, I must have knocked over my tablet when I ran out the door because my son picked it up and put it in his mouth  (( he didnt swallow the whole thing, just a tiny tiny chip is missing from it.

The tablet as a whole was 1mg. I am so worried that he will get in too deep of a sleep and not wake up. I am beyond terrified of SIDS. Am I overreacting? Should I stay up all night and hold him to make sure he is okay? Co sleep? Gah, im so scared  ((

1mg wont do that much. You can still wake up on the stuff too.

He'll be okay. Just be glad it was ONLY a Melatonin pill.

Personally I would probably call poison control to double check. They might say its no big deal, or to keep an eye on baby for a certain amount of time, and they can tell you what to look for. JMO though

A friend of mine has been giving them to her baby for months. Definitely not something I would do but he's fine.

Thats actually very harmful, his self producing melatonin levels will always be off and he will have sleep trouble in the future.

Ik. She told me her doctor said it was fine. I tried telling her exactly that but "doctors know best." I'm just saying OP's baby shouldn't have any serious issues from a sliver of one pill.
