Groceries are not supposed to be taxes and I thought that was a gov't thing... Does it vary state to state? If so, that's effed up!!

Oh, sometimes I even have *gasp* FS left over into the next month. Only reason I didn't this month is b/c I had Thanksgiving dinner here at my house. Probably wont' this month either b/c of Christmas and two birthdays.
I have that because I spend cash sometimes and keep the FS just in case, kwim?

Honestly, I got tired of reading it. It's the same smurf.
Everyone assumes that b/c you're on it you're the lowest of the low and buying BS with it.
They complain if you're not buying healthy food (hamburger helper, ramen, etc.) and complain if you're buying good food (steak, seafood). You can't win with these people.

It's the "foreign" gas stations. Idk if they just don't know how the taxes work or not...

I buy a combination of the above...well, aside from seafood unless you count tuna..lol

But I got bitched at once because I bought one of my kids a bakery cake.
It's the ONE time a year that happens. It's their special day and even poor people want their kids to have nice parties.

I do have one kid (my nephew) who wants me to make him a homemade German chocolate cake this year though. So that's what he gets.
My daughter on the other hand wants a Twilight cake and IDK how to do that...so Kroger will be making it.

Who knows. But if they are going against your law in your state it is wrong

Yeah, that's ridiculous.
I don't think there should be taxes on anything we NEED to physically live like food, water and in some cases, medication.

It's an 8.75% tax on everything, including food, here. That's why I go to the commissary most of the time.

that's so high and we freak out over a 1 cent sales tax increase here. Bringing it up to a 5 cent sales tax

They raised it to that, however, they are eliminating the Income Tax and gas tax (most of it) for the state, city, and county. The 8.75% includes all three.

That's good. I can't imagine paying that much tax.

I could couldn't care any less what ppl use their food stamps on. They qualify because they need it....thats how I see it. Im just grateful that I don't need it and can afford groceries. Times are tough, ppl need help. And it really does not matter to me what they use it on. If someone gets 300 a month on fs and chooses to spend it on all junk, or all expensive food or all good food. Its the same money being spent either way. I imagine to be on fs you have to be really struggling (I know some ppl abuse system but I like to think most don't) then I don't blame them on splurging on a certain food for them or their children, if they can afford to with the fs they get.
