It varies by location and brand. Pretty much, if the Energy drink has a Nutrition label, you can buy it. Many manufacturers have changed the label so it no longer has them so they can't be purchased with FS.

Quoting kthx.:" Because it's cheating. If they aren't allowed to have warmed up food prior to purchase.. (which the ... [snip!] ... in my store has a very big sign saying nobody can use it if buying food with EBT).. why would they be able to afterwards? "

Eh Id probably still let them. Everyone needs to eat. Im not gonna judge how someone pays for it... regardless of the food they are getting.

Sure people should buy healthy stuff, but sometimes the junk stuff is cheaper and you can make that smurf stretch.

Im not on FS and don't really care what kind of food they buy. My issue is they get off of it after a decent amount of time and don't abuse it for those who need it. As for what they get I don't care.

Quoting Michael Westen:" I ate so healthy when I was on FS. I mean the stuff I bought was a lot more expensive but it was so ... [snip!] ... but it was so much better for me. Like I'd rather pay $5 for a pack of 2 good pork chops than $4 for a nasty frozen pizza."

There is nothing wrong with eating good and Healthy no matter what your method of payment is. (That's my opinion anyways). It's not like you were selling your food stamps for drugs and allowing your children to starve.

I want food stamps
I'm all bitter now.....Happy for you though.....
And don't stress what people think.. Buy what you want with YOUR stamps...
However...if you do decide not to cook and get a smurf load of hot pockets and microwave meals...it would be tacky to ask the neighbor to heat them up lol.

I buy monster java with f/s but you can't buy red bull, I'm not sure about the regular monster. Also my daughter bought gum with it at walmart but she can't do the same at the gas station. It jst depends on the store. I can buy the prepared fruit bowls at the grocery store but I can't at the truck stop because its rang up as non food???

I could really care less what she or anyone using food stamps decide to buy.. I was giving the answer I hear so often. Which is why I put "*shrugs*".

Quoting kthx.:" This is gonna piss some people off, but idgaf. I'm all for FS if the people need it. But what pisses ... [snip!] ... but I can't do that smurf all the time   Though... people on FS seem to be doing it quite often. How the HELL is that fair?"

The only thing that was probably unreasonable that I bought was pop. But I was literally addicted to it and DH (BF at the time) was deployed and I was working 60 hours a week and in school full time and I thought I NEEDED it. Lol. Little did I know, I feel SO much better now that I hardly drink it.

The system doesn't make it that easy. I went in and told the lady I only needed it for 3-4 months and the max I needed was like $300 a month. She said I can only drop it after 6 months and the minimum they would give me was $575.

we get food stamps AND pay taxes.
We pay property, and income taxes.
not meaning to sound snarky, just I hate that we need the help and then people with their comments make it worse. sometimes normal people who have jobs need a little help too.

I'm still trying to figure out how someone sells their FS with the EBT cards! Lol

Lol. I mean every once in a while as a treat? Sure... everyone deserves a treat.

But I see people coming in regularly who have $600+ on their FS card... and buy $20 worth of shakes/ice cream. Almost daily. It smurfing sucks. I work my ass off and am broke after buying groceries... and it's not steak. It's ground beef and bagged frozen chicken. But these people can just splurge on whatever they'd like... why the smurf can't I?
