Can someone explain to me what stripping membranes is what does it do and how effective is it ?and does it hurt?

It hurt like smurf.
Its removing the membranes that cover the cervix. Its supposed to encourage contractions thus causing labor.

I was told it is most effective when done on a woman who is already starting to thin and dilate before it is done. It worked for my sister. She had my niece 9 days early and her water broke 12 hours after it was done. Some women have had it done multiple times though and it never worked.

My cervix is very thin and im 1 1/2 cm dialted they are gonna do the stripping wensday and if it doesnt work .. Im still scheduled for an induction friday next week anyways just hope it works and dont hurt like hell

i had it done monday and still no labor yet..im having back pains right now and had a bloody show but nothing major...so idk if its going to do anything
