That is COMPLETELY different. He isn't shorter, or smaller, he can't move.

I can't see how anyone would think this is a bad story or unfair. The boy did a wonderful thing and by the looks of the recent interview the boy with CP was thrilled.

you are ridiculous. being PHYSICALLY INCAPABLE and just sucking at a sport are two different things.

Come on people, he is not a defenseless puppy. He is a normal, able-minded boy with physical limitations. Joining the team and competing was his choice.

I really hope you never have a child with cp. My daughter has cp and yes we treat her like everyone else but she also gets love and support. If she wants to do something she will do it. Even if she can't physically do it we will make it happen if that's what.she wants. And that's all I am saying on this thread.

I think that they obviously talked to the other kid and he was ok with it. Why else would he throw the match? That's not unfair... that's compassion!

Again, we need to stop with this putting kids with disabilities in a bubble. He and his parents know about potential injuries. Wrestling is a competitive sport. The boy could have pinned him down easily without hurting him, and I'm sure most boys competing against him would have. The point is to let (Jared?) participate in the sport fairly, like a completely normal child, without his disabilities lying in the forefront.

If the boy was emotionally and intellectually at the same age as his peers, he knows he has a severe case of CP and would have a very small chance of winning. Even giving his best shot, he knew he would still lose and if he was upset because the match was thrown the original story would have went in a different direction instead of saying how happy he was. Since hes perfectly capable of expressing his emotions.

I worked with kids and adults with special needs. Each individual reacts differently, some of my clients would rather lose on their own merits than be given a win, and some appreciate feeling special for getting the cheers, even if they had help winning.

Since this boy falls into the latter category, I think it's awesome.
