For sure, get a food processor. Maybe even a regular one that you can use for your family meals anyway. This is one of my favorite things in the kitchen so you can make homemade hummus, veggie purees, kugels, custard pies, chopped meats/soups, etc.

Since your son is a bit older, I don't think you have to worry as much about the infant being stepped on but it is possible he will eventually feel jealous or upset about toys being messed with, so perhaps a play pen would help to keep the baby out of harms way when you need to run to the bathroom or something.

My food processor does everything. You can puree soups or use separate attachments to juice oranges, grate carrots/potatoes, or even slice veggies. That's why I suggest one of these guys.

well..I don't have tape! lmao so I wonder how much it would cost to ship if I just tossed it all in a box? I don't have that spatula. Id ask 20 for it and shipping...It's 50 in store. SO maybe its even better just to buy it new..you know?

I have a small pack n play with bassinette already from DS that I'll use in my room for the first few weeks/months til I'm getting more sleep, it can easily be moved for baby to play in while I cook. Good point.


And I JUST realized I HAVE a food processor. dH got it for me right before we moved, so It was in storage and I've never pulled it out to use since we moved home in August. I'll have to yank it out today and make something!

If I don't get one new or handed down from a friend for a gift, I'll look into buying one of those for sure. I have a doorframe Johnny Jump Up that my sis sent me with Deagan, but no frames on any doors but bedrooms and baths, haha. That only covers one small area of the house!. I had one i got used with Ax, but tossed (donated) it when we had our 3 rd miscarriage after he outgrew it---we were moving and it was a hassle and we were feeling VERY discouraged.

Nope, he didn't do birthday til he got home. He sent me a buttload of leftover gear in May, though! FUN!   the food processor was last Christmas right before we moved.

Random other thought, any time you plan to go out of the house, double the amount of preparation time you normally need. Sometimes it has taken me 2 hours just to leave the house...seemed like the minute I was ready, I either had to change yet another poopie diaper/outfit and/or something happening with toddler. I find putting "Barney" or something else on for entertainment, helped with transitional phases when I needed to take the little one (nursing/nap) while the big one was bored. lol. Oh, and forget ever having a nap yourself ever again!!! Ha ha! ;P

Haha yea the first couple months was impossible to get out of the house cause you nurse the baby get everyone dressed, bags packed, fed, pottyd ect. And it's time for the baby to nurse again. I gave up on going anywhere first thing in the mornings and made sure both kids were dressed from the time they woke up and diaper bag was always packed the night before so I knew I could just nurse and leave if I wanted to go anywhere.
