if you breastfeed/fed

posted 5th Dec
my son is 5 months old and he is still eating every few hours. I know he is getting enough because I take fenugreek and my boobs get full quite often and squirts everywhere lmao. When can I expect him to go a little longer between feedings. Even at night he is still eating 2-3 hours

He may always be that way. My dd would nurse constantly even after a yr old. Usually once they get active they nurse less during the day cause they are too busy to stop.

From my experience BF it didn't change. She always wanted to nurse every 2-3 hours (if she could even make it that far)...even at nearly 28 months when I finally weaned her.

He may slow down after solids are introduced. And he may not. My daughter nursed every 2-3 hours ( even at night) until she self weaned at 11 1/2 months.

I think that's normal and wouldn't expect any different any time soon. He may start sleeping through the night more when he's awake most of the day. But my son is 7 months old and he nurses every 2 hours, even with getting three solid meals a day! And he nurses anywhere from 1-4 times throughout the night.

My son didn't slow down until like 15 months but from then on it was phases. He would lose interest and breastfeed further apart and then he's be right back at it like a newborn. He stopped when he was 2 1/2 because I dried up from this pregnancy but even until then he was still having phases of breastfeeding closer together.

I feed him oatmeal now but only in the morning and at night but he wants to nurse right after too. My doctor said at his 4 month check up that I should be distracting him to make sure he waits every 4 hours at least to eat. Obviously I am going to feed my son whenever he is hungry but I was hoping he would learn himself lol.

You shouldn't be feeding him anything until after a full session of breastfeeding, not before.

Please don’t tell me what I should or shouldn’t do with my child you don’t know him.
