fetal fibronectin test

Has anyone had the fetal fibronectin test done? My doc decided to do it today because I am only 30 weeks and I have been having contractions off and on for the last month or so. The test is supposed to help him determine whether or not I will go into preterm labor. If it comes back negative then chances of labor before 35wks is less than 1% but if it comes back positive then there is not definitive way to determine if I will go into labor early. I am just wondering if anyone else has had this done and what your results were and how far you were when you had your baby. I guess I just need to ease my mind until I get the results back tomorrow.

I've had several done but they were always negative. My sister had one at 28 weeks it was positive. She went into labor at 39 weeks and 4 days I believe.

I think sex within 24-48 hours can throw those test off.

Yea it can. They usually ask if you've had sex in the last 48hrs. Well they asked me when I had mine done.

Same here... I had one when I was having pressure at 23 weeks, they found a dimple in my cervix.. but I was still pretty much closed... and I had sex, but no semen up there... mine came back neg... so far it's been right.

I had one done.. I was 31 weeks I think.. I delivered at 38 weeks exactly. It came back negative.

Thanks ladies I am hoping for a negative so it will ease my mind a little bit. I have done some research and I found that a positive doesn't really mean much and a negative is much more helpful. I guess I will find out in just a few hours.
