Quite crawling. My son is 12 months old and can walk well, but still crawl. I'm eager to put his little ass on a leash and let him walk around the store with me. I obviously can't trust him to walk if i let him out of the cart... He would speed crawl awau

Eww. I'd never let my Son walk in public until he used that has his main form of getting around, lol. He didn't walk until he was like 14 months old and I guess it took a few weeks for him to stop crawling everywhere.

Cora started walking around 14 months. But I wouldn't let her walk through a store.
She was able to wlak through the grocery store around 18-24 months. And i never used a leash.

DD walked at 10 months and never really crawled after than.

1st: started walking 2 days before his 1 b-day
2nd: has been trying to walk since about 10 months. Full on walking (no crawling at all) since about 11 months.

My daughter would still run away from me if I let her loose in a store. I wouldn't put her on a leash though. I usually get the carts with the little cars on the front. She loves it. Either that or she sits in the cart like normal.

Well, I wouldn't let him CRAWL around... Though it not cuz I'm concerned about germs... I'm not really a germaphobe kinda mom. :-)

I wouldn't let them constantly walk around the store until they were a LOT older =/ My almost two year old maybe walks for 10 minutes of any store trip. I can't imagine expecting a brand new walker to walk around an entire store.

DS stopped crawling the day he started walking on his own that was 14 months old. From 8 months to 14 months he would walk if he was hanging on to something (furniture, couch, my hand, push toy...). Once he was confident enough to walk on his own he stopped crawling.

My 13 month old has been walking since 9 months, and doesnt really crawl much at all anymore. If i'm carrying him in a store and want to put him own..it only lasts like 2 minutes cause hes all over the place, running in front of people, wants to see and touch and pull and bite everything on the shelves. Hes a very well behaved baby..but he's very curious. Once he enjoys walking while holding my hand i can see it getting easier..but right now he wants to go go go..easier for him to be in the cart.

Well I definatly wouldn't EXPECT him to walk the whole trip. Ha... Just as long as he wanted. Just curious hope long after the walk do the start to crawl.

Umm, do you understand what's lurking on the floors? I mean, we're talking about e-coli not the common cold. *shudders*

DD started walking right before 11mo and stopped crawling within days of getting the hang of it.
She's 14 mo now and I can't imagine letting her walk around a grocery store. She's not old enough to understand to follow me or not to touch/pick everything up. I've NEVER seen a baby, and that's what I still consider her even if she's older than 1, walking in a grocery store. I'd think the parent was pretty irresponsible IMO.
Also, I kind of hate baby leashes. They're babies, not dogs. You're supposed to teach them how to act properly, not control them.

I didnt' start putting the "leash" on dd until she was walking/running away. lol so 13-14 months. just now at 19 months have i really started to use it. she hates carts, strollers are ok for a bit, but she would rather walk. So I bring it with me in the diaper bag. I have seen a lot of kids with them around here. makes worry about the kidnapping rate where I live.....
She will let me hold her hand ( well wrist)for a bit but would rather be free.
and no you dont' use them like a leash. lol NEVER pull on it. it's more of a tether so they can't just take off.
