Ugh, even when not pregnant it is extremely uncomfortable for me. At 38 weeks I'd imagine it be excruciating.

A pelvic exam shouldn't really be "painful"... Uncomfortable or awkward yes, but if it hurts, then something is wrong down there, or they are not doing something right!

Some women's pelvic floor muscles are just really tight. My exams are always painful. Sex can be painful too. It sucks but I'm working on it.

Ouch... I forget other people's pain tolerances are different too, I think mine is pretty high. I was in full blown labor & just sitting there, the nurse checked me and couldn't believe i was 8cm dialated and not screaming at her.

Had one today and it didn't really bother me he was very easythis tie around but I have had it done a couple times due to contractions and it hurt. On a scale of 1-10 I would say about a 2

The first exam will more than likely hurt, but it isn't so bad. I think it's more in your head then actual pain, because I was expecting the most awful pain ever. But now since I know what to expect it's nothing.

For me it depends on who is doing it and whether or not they have short fingers and have to go escavating to find what they are looking for. LOL I have had some that were not uncomfortable at all and some that have made me cry.

Like a regular pelvic exam or are they checking you for dialation? I had a pelvic exam in the middle of pregnancy, just a swab, it was no big deal. I had my cervix checked last week, it hurt a little and was "a lot of pressure" as the doctor warned, but it was over in like 25 seconds. So no big deal.

Well the cervix exam is a little painful, but it's over so fast. I had a guy do mine too. I was at the hospital for a fall last week and so it was a man I had never met before, but it wasn't a big deal. I wouldn't worry about it since it is over so fast.
