posted 5th Dec
Anyone out there have a pelvic floor prolapse (or any kind)? Did it get better or worse with time?

I have one, its not like everything is falling out of me. But its pretty painful pressure like by urethra and clit. It smurfing sucks, and stuff down there is for sure different, my muscles SUCK and I am really scared to have sex.

I do. I have a uterine prolapse. The symptoms got better over the first year PP, but the prolapse itself is getting worse. It's just that there aren't as many symptoms even though it's getting worse, you know? It doesn't really bother me anymore, but I will likely need a hysterectomy in the next few years.

I don't know exactly what is prolapsed, my midwives refereed me to see an OB, so I need to get on that.   its superpainful and uncomfortable

I think I did. I didn't feel any discomfort or anything, but when I was about 2 weeks PP, I got brave enough to check out the damages and see what my stitches looked like, and I saw a slight buldge when I sat on the toilet....some days it was there, other days it wasn't. I didn't bring it up to my doctor, because at my 7week check up when she examined me, she said everything was back to normal...so I'm not 100% sure what was going on down there. I didn't start having sex again until 10 weeks PP and the only pain I felt was from the episiotomy site...pretty sure they just stitched me up smaller than I was pre-pregnancy.

I started bulging after my first (10lbs baby but a section) like bulging a ton, and this time (VBAC) its WAY painful and its like the inside has moved. TMI but if you look down there you can see the ridges of the vaginal wall through the opening to my vagina. Its like the whole thing tilted

How far PP are you? It was really bad for the first few months after I had my 2nd. It was super uncomfortable, sex hurt, it was horrible. By a year 99% of the symptoms were gone. Now, just before my period it gets pretty uncomfortable again, but otherwise I don't even notice it at all. A lot really does change in that first year PP. I didn't think it would, but it's made a HUGE difference. Like I said, it isn't gone. It's probably worse, but the symptoms have gotten better.

This is true. You just can't know at first, which is why they should never try to fix it (unless it is stage 4) until at least a year PP. If it's really bothering you then you can look into getting a pessary, which will help with the symptoms. It won't fix it but by holding everything where it should be it will alleviate the symptoms.

Yeah, it can. Also, look up a website. I think there is a book. It's called Saving the Whole Woman, I think. It's about posture nad things that can help a lot too.

No problem. I know not a lot of people talk about this, so you can always PM me if you need to. I've been there, I know how much it sucks. *hugs*

I had a urethral prolapse and was told to do a smurf ton of kegals at least 4 times a day for 4-5 minutes at a time. I did that for a few months and it got better. IDK about yours though but thankfully mine went back up. Felt like a bowling ball between my legs for a good month though. If it didn't go away 6 months after doing the kegals i would have been referred to gyno to look into surgery.
Hugs!

I don't have a prolapse, but I do have some major muscle issues in my pelvis. Like a previous poster, mine typically gets MUCH worse around my period, and sex is horribly painful.

I just started PT on Tuesday with a woman my doctor calls the "Pelvis Queen". I did PT a year ago and the woman pissed me off and fixed nothing, so it's important to find the right one who knows something about women's issues, and does MORE than just biofeedback.

I have some major dysfunction in the muscles of the pelvis, and pretty much no strength in the pelvic floor (the muscles are so toned up and tight all the time that I basically can't use them when I need to, and my pubic bone is so far out of alignment that the muscles can't coordinate anyway). I'm doing some exercises to get it strengthened back up along with myofascial work to help with the swelling and pain and to get my pelvic to stay where it should. I'd say it's certainly worth looking into!
