re: No one is throwing me a shower?

posted 5th Dec
My mom and I threw mine. I wasn't going to have one but then everyone kept saying you have to have one. Most of my friends have either moved or I just don't really talk to anyore. I had two friends show up and the rest were a couple family members. I did the whole baby registry thing and I only got one thing off of it..lol I had fun doing it though. At the end of the day if you want to throw yourself a baby shower go for it. You will have memories and that's all that matters who care what anybody else thinks anyways. It's your life and if they don't like it then tell them not to come.

If you want to throw a baby shower, don't let anyone stop you. Seriously. Maybe the turnout wont be so great. I know the little things add up and I'm sorry about your situation. That's a scary thought, and why I've been buying clothes since before I even found out the gender. Good luck mama.

Quoting Megan Keyser:" If my hubby threw it though, the people who are calling me tacky would probably still call me tacky.   Oh well, I guess I need to grow a thicker skin and not worry about it. "
If he threw it it would be laid back, comfy, no games or nonsense, just friends and whatever family you want, good food and conversation, and a celebration of the new bebe. You wouldn't need decor unless you wanted it, and it could just be really relaxed and fun. On the casual invite you could even put what you really need the most and have everyone bring a small dish and gift for the the new baby instead of listing the gift as being for YOU. I think that would eliminate the issue of whether or not people would think you were tacky. I actually have an issue of fit pregnancy magazine and they talk about how couples are opting for this kind of shower and celebration instead of the traditional baby shower. Plus, it gives dad a chance to feel celebrated as well, which isn't very common.
