You have to be careful. You should only use a steam mop on sealed real wood floors. Not on laminate or unsealed or really old floors where the sealant has worn away. We use the Bona system. I vacuum on the flat floor setting then use the Bona.

As long as they are real wood floors, go ahead and mop and/or steam. If they are laminate, no steam and ring the crap out of your mop. I use my dyson digital slim on the floors, and mop normally. If we are having company I might use Murphy's, to make them shine.

Hoover floor mate my best friend ever. Vacuums, mops, and dries all in one. Oh and your floor will always look dirty after like 10 minutes its the joys of wood floors.
