25 weeks and 2 days

posted 5th Dec
My son was born at 25 weeks and 2 days... Today marks would would have been 26 weeks... My baby boy is going great!!! The nurses in the NICU are amazed at how well he is doing because he was born so early... My miracle baby!! They say we will be able to hold him next week and that made me so happy... Its weird having a baby and not being able to hold him or bring him home... I changed his diaper for the first time yesterday and I almost cried... Can't wait to bring him home!!!!!!

Sorry to hear it but glad he is thriving! Hopefully he will turn out a very healthy happy baby when you get to bring him home

Congrats on the baby boy, I bet you were so worried to have him this early! Glad he is doing so well and you get to hold him soon. I hear the "kangaroo holding" really helps stimulate those little tiny ones to grow...

That's where they have the baby lay on your bare chest & cover them with a blanket... The skin to skin contact helps keep them warm and the touching helps stimulate their growth... I think all preemies do it once they are big & strong enough.

That might be what the nurse has me do next week when I'm able to hold him for the first time. She did mention that skin to akin contact was extremely good for babies. I'm a little scared to hold him considering he is so tiny. He weighed 2lbs and 6oz when he was born.

Well that's a good weight for a 26 weeker!! Preemies are alot tougher than they look, After a little while you'll be holding him and not worrying about it : ) Good luck with your little guy! And I hope he continues to improve and grow quickly.

NP... I can't imagine how stressful and worrying it is to have your baby so early, but it sounds like he is doing awesome considering how early he came!

I'm the proud mom of a 25+2 miracle. He is almost 8 months. You gave a long road ahead of you. Remember take things day by day. You are still in the "honeymoon stage" before they get tired and need more help. I will be praying for you...

Thank you for your encouraging words!!! They said he is pooping blood but everything is normal. His x rays didn't show anything wrong either. I just want my baby boy to be healthy. They said this road wouldn't be easy and I didn't expect it to be but it worries me.

This is my second preemie. Both fighters. My first had NEC. She started with bloody diapers and swelling. I'm glad it's noticed early. NEC is dangerous if not caught early. What is yo ur baby's name and do you have a Facebook prayer page? If not please set one up. I would love to follow your little ones journey. I can give you lots of preemie parent support from me and many many other preemie parents. I'm praying!

His name is Kenyan Amaury Tate. I dont have one but I will make sure to set one up. Ive never heard of prayer pages but thank you for informing me and for your prayers. The doctor called today and said he has a heart murmur and his heart valve didn't close on its own so they are giving him medicine to close it.
