Cloth diapering a newbie advice

Well I cloth diaper my son, but I basically bought a crap ton of one sized pocket diapers (Which I love) and was like whenever he can fit in them thats when we will start. This time I want to start way closer to the beginning.
Ok sooo what I am wondering is:
What "system" [prefolds&cover, fitteds &cover, pocket, AIO, etc] did you like best for your newborn?
How much of whatever system did you find you needed? (I wash every 2-3 days)
Any useful tips/tricks you picked up?
A side note - I have small, long, and skiny thighed babies so if you can relate and have personal experiences that could help that would be great!

I used prefolds, they were all we could afford, and I washed every night, but I had 2 dozen, my baby peed nonstop.

Thats what I am thinking of using.
Whoa! I thought if I got 2 dozen I would be good for like 1 1/2 to 2 days, but I have no experience with them.
Did you use covers with the prefolds?

I use kawaii one size with inserts. I make my own soap ... i have 30 diapers and i wash every 2 to three days.. i wash inserts and covers separately inserts on sanitize in our front load.. (the old washer was soooo much better). Mine go from 5-30 lbs so ive used them since birth

I love one sized diapers!
All the ones I have seen say 8 to whatever & my son didnt fit in them good until he was about 10 pounds hes on the long skinny side.

I get all my diapers on ebay! I love my diapers too!!! I just type in one size cloth inserts and they pop up... ive gotten some from china and they were pretty nice! I was surprised! It took 8 weeks to get them here but at 3 bucks a diaper i wasnt complaining.
