Odd question..

posted 5th Dec
Ok so a girl I went to High School with is 25 weeks with her first.
She posted on Facebook last night asking if leaking from her breast is normal..
A few people told her to squeeze the Colostrum out to make latching and breast feeding easier when the time comes? Is this true?

Idk I always heard and was told to leave them alone..I mean out of curiosity I messed with them but I wasn't like sitting there pumping and squeezing them..

I'm just curious is all...A lot of us said don't and a few said she REALLY needed to do so...

No, you don't need to do that. It's an old wives tale.

I never heard that.
I also didn't do it and had absolutely no problems with DS latching or feeding. He is now 7 months and nurses like a champ still!

This is what I thought...But like a few girls were like swearing to her it'll make it easier..She said she was going to ask her doctor before doing their suggestions and I hope her doctor tells her to leave those tatas the hell alone lol.

That's a bit odd.
I mean, like you said, I messed with them out of curiosity and managed to get it to squirt into DH's face!! He was just like :O 'you've not even given birth yet and there's milk there?!' possibly the funniest moment of my pregnancy!

Yeah I was like UHH? And the person who happened to say that isn't the smartest girl of them all..An I'm no genius lol!! I wanna message her and say they are probably wrong and she really needs to research and speak to her doctor but I've been told "I'm a know it all" because I get concerned for friends and politely offer my opinion..Idk though..........

LOL! My MIL was telling me how she chased my husbands father around and would squirt him hahahahahaha! I didn't figure out how to do that till like 3 months EBF before we stopped:/

And they were telling her to also sit there with cups and hand express it out?
Idfk but I'm afraid to message her with concerns politely and get the "you're a know it all bitch" bullsmurf I always get just for looking out for people ya know?

And this. Unless you are already BFing another child (which since you said this was her 1st she probably isn't), BFing helps your uterus to contract after you have given birth so pumping could cause early labour

Well you could either stay out of it. Or just be honest and be like "What I was told that pumping or nipple stimualation at all isn't really good to do this early in the game as it could possibly cause contractions? And leave it at that.

I'm hoping she waits before doing any of this to speak to her doctor but idk..I feel like she will listen since some of them were 40+ and some had two kids so she might feel like they know better?

Yeah..I think I'll just message that exactly and say I hope she doesn't take it the wrong way.
