Scared and nervous

posted 5th Dec
I'm beginning to worry about how I will adjust to being a mother of two in February. How did you adjust? Was it easy on your first? Difficult? My DD has an extremely amazing sleeping schedule when she's not disturbed. She wakes up at 6-7am every morning, takes a nap at exactly 1pm, goes to bed at 9pm. She's such a light sleeper (she definitely got that from me). I'm hoping she will adjust to DS crying. She's extremely strong willed and stubborn. She will be two years old in 11 days. Terrible twos have already set in with her. She doesn't let anyone put her in her highchair to eat, change her diaper, lay her down to sleep, nothing (only me). How will I juggle between a newborn hanging off my tit and toddler that is my shadow? Everyone keeps telling me that I'm going to have my hands full when DS is born. It doesn't really help saying that, just makes it even more stressful for me and he's not even here yet! I'm honestly, scared. I don't know what I'm going to do. DD also had AR (took meds until 1 year) and colic (first 9 months). So worried that DS will have colic. DD's colic was terrible. It was a full time job plus over time with a colic baby. DH works full time and once he's off work, he's too exhausted to do much. He helps as much as he can. I don't have much family to help out. No one helped with DD when she was born. I'm so anxious and scared. I'm sure I'm worrying for no reason. It would just be a little reassuring if I had family to take DD a few hours a day when DS is here but I'm absolutely positive that won't happen. I had to get all of this out. Thanks for reading. Whew.

My toddler is a runner. I HAVE to invest in a double stroller. Not sure how I will manage pushing a shopping cart AND a stroller. Ish. This is so over-whelming to think about.

use a doll & introduce to the routine of baby. typical things to expect and how she can help. I too was worried about my lo's ajusting. But that soon gave way after I had my youngest with amazing helpers (bb/bs).

I know. It's going to be hard. I may end up bald with stress but I know we will pull through it. My sanity somehow survived once DD's colic stage was over. I didn't think it would ever be normal but we did it. Somehow we survived.

That's a really good idea. We actually got her a "Stella doll" for Christmas. It comes with a removable outfit, diaper and a magnetic paci. Hopefully that will help. She can change her baby's diaper while I change brothers.

Yeah DH just says, "Yeah, good luck with that".

Thanks, lover.

DS turned 2 17 days before his brother was born and it was quite an adjustment for me. DS adjusted quite well and loves his little brother. I have a hard time keeping the house clean and have become somewhat or a hermit lol. I don't enjoy going to the store alone but I actually have to today. I just take the double stroller and fit whatever I can in it... It gets easier as they get older (at least it has for me) When I do go out I usually invite a friend or a family member, but they're not always available so sometimes I just have to do what I have to do. Sorry thats not really advise. I was also terrified about having two so close together, congrats and good luck!

Lol thank you. I think I'm just going to have to put on my big girl panties and just deal with it.

Oh me too! I'm hoping I'm over-reacting and DD turns into a sweet angel once DS is born. Lol
