Seriously you are just hyping yourself up.

Remember that your body was MADE to do this. Everything about you is designed to go through child birth.

What little pain you will have will be fast and you will forget ALL about it the second you are done. Really. I cannot even remember what a contraction feels like and it's only been 4 years.

  This exactly.

I don't remember contraction pains and I delivered 9 months ago with no pain management.

Take a deep breath  .

I think it's very normal to be scared of labour, especially since women love to tell stories about how much they had to endure to have their baby. If it bothers you, then next time someone starts to tell you about their labour, cut them off, tell them you would love to hear about it, but not until your baby is born  .

I had amazing experiences. I actually enjoyed dilating with my second, it was fun and felt amazing! I think it would have been an 'orgasmic' experience if it hadn't been at the hospital, or if I had more privacy  . Both birth experiences made me a more confident person.

For amazing natural births, these were the things that worked best for me:
- hiring a birth doula
- practising relaxation techniques (I used guided meditation CDs and a bit of HypnoBabies)
- Two books helped so much:
Ina May's Guide to Childbirth
Childbirth Without Fear (Grantly Dick-Read)

Honestly don't worry. The entinox (gas and air) was my best friend in labour. i felt totally high and euphoric, the pain was still there but time went so quickly and it helped me distance myself from the pain.

Oh, I forgot a couple of things that helped:
- staying out of bed. The few contractions I had in bed or in the car hurt. The contractions I had while I was upright or in the tub were intense but I did not consider them painful.
- water  . I loved being in the tub during labour. My son was born in the tub!

Gas and air is amazing. I also had the diamorphine. You can have it anytime as long as your at least 4 hours away from giving birth as it can make them drowsy. It doesn't completely remove the pain but it takes the edge off and calms you down as well, it helped me, especially with the panicky feeling!
Pain relief is completely your choice. You may start contracting and want everything, you may just want the gas and air. You won't know until your in that situation. Just go with the flow, your body was made to birth babies and if it was really bad women wouldn't keep doing it again!
Everyone is always quick to give horror stories, especially watching one born every minute. Hardly anyone tells you about their good experiences. It's different for everyone. I had a hard labour that was quite bad, a lot of things went wrong but you just deal with it, go with the flow and I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat if it meant having my son.

Stop listening to everyone else!! Every birthing experience is different! I hated when ppl told me their horror stories... I find it to be incredibly rude. I aint gonna lie... labor is hard work.. that's why its called labor... but you forget it instantly... if not soon after. I personally got an epidural, and I praise the man that invented that smurf! I felt NOTHING! I had maybe 20 mins of hardcore labor pains. There is no shame in changing your birth plan if you feel you need to. Don't write the epidural off... have it in the back of your head as an option.... and if you need it great... get it... if you don't then even better! Just keep in mind, you will not die, you will get through it, and your body was built to do this smurf!... every woman (well almost) does this and has for centuries.... YOU CAN DO IT TOO!

Exactly, if it was that traumatic they wouldn't do it again. Labour is hard but it's what you're built for and it's managable. You'll be fine honestly, don't listen to people and don't take it to heart.
You'll be surprised and amazed how strong you are and how capable your body is!

I had people tell me I was crazy/naive for wanting to give birth without any pain relief, and asking me why I wouldn't want to have a wonderful experience/memory that I couldn't get without pain relief. Really? I was so fed up with people telling me their overly dramatic horror stories.
It was the most amazing experience for me and I would go through it everyday if I could, just to experience the most wonderful feeling you'll ever feel in your life.
