Depends on the person, mine it was like 8 hours... but it does make it a bit more painful when you aren't already in labor.

is it true, there are some complications if baby is in there longer than 42 weeks?

Is it your first baby? I think something like 80% first time Moms go to 41 weeks if not longer. Its natural and normal...I really hate how doctors push for unnecessary inductions..I was a victim of this my OB told me my son was too big for me...he was 7 lbs 2 oz...those ultrasounds can be wayyy off. There really is no way to tell from dilation when you will go into labor...I was at a 2 for like 5 weeks. Some women dont dilate at all until they actually go into labor! If your not comfortable then dont do it...going in without confidence can screw with your labor too. Your the mom ...that doctor works for you,..dont let them push you into doing anything your not comfortable with..Sorry for rambeling a bit there

Yes, the placenta can become old... and therefore the baby doesn't get the nutrients it needs.

Once you pass 42 weeks your have a risk of placenta ageing...You can be monitored more closely..but I think some doctors have you come in like every other day if you go that far. But like I said earlier I have read/heard of many birth stories that went past 42...one was 43 1/2 weeks with no signs of ageing. Your due date is really just a guess.

i was induced with daughter at 38wks..they said they needed to because of her heartrate..unless they have a serious medical reason of why they want to then yea I would refuse..they might be looking out for you and the baby too because the longer the baby is cooking the bigger its going to get and it might be a really hard delivery.

I got induced with both my boys labor was really fast for me with both of them, it was panful but I mean I don't know if its anymore painful than going into labor naturally but it wasn't unbearable.
