Pumping 5 days pp

posted 4th Dec
I just had my daughter 5 days ago and I plan on pumping and bottle feeding as well as nursing because i have to go back to work in 5 weeks.

I just started pumping yesterday. I only did it once yesterday and got 2 and a half ounces of what looks like colostrum(it was yellow-ish).

Today I pumped both sides for 10 minutes each and got 3 ounces total and it looked more milk colored today, less yellow. That was at 10 am and then I pumped again, 10 minutes on each side at about 6:45 pm and got another 3 ounces. Both times I had just finished feeding my daughter.

Am I doing this right? Should I be pumping more? I'm currently just trying to build a supply. I plan on introducing the bottle in a couple weeks but definitely still nursing majority of the time.

If your breasts feel 'empty' when you're done, sounds like you're doing it right to me.

That is an awesome amount to get so early on! I would set up a pumping schedule akin to what your pump schedule will be like once you start work. That way, your body is already primed for those extra "feedings" by the time you go back to work.
