On-call doctors?

So, I've been informed that if my doctor isn't on-call and I go into labor....The on-call doctor will deliver my son.

What exactly is the point of having a specific OBGYN and having a birthing plan with him....if there's a good chance he won't be the one delivering my child?

My OB didn't deliver my baby. It wasn't a big deal at all. The only thing the doctor did was catch the baby and sew me up, no big deal.

In case of c section or induction

That's how it was when I delivered DD. Some lady I had never met delivered her. It's the same way here, too.

You're not going to care. They only catch the baby. They can't be there all the time. They have lives also.

Both of my deliveries the on call doctor was in the room. It's not a big deal.

Exactly. There are some douchebag doctors at the hospital that I will be delivering at and some that I haven't heard very good things about.

My doctor is on call Thursday when I'm being induced but if it takes longer than that & carries over to Friday I don't think he'll be the one to deliver.

Ou may only see the doctor for 10 minutes while pushing. In those minutes of pushing you won't even notice a doctor is there. It's no big deal. My OB didn't deliver my daughter and when it came time to start pushing I didn't care if it was a doctor or an ogre that caught my baby

My OB said to call the after hours if I go into labor and they will get a hold of her. She said that she will deliver my son. So who knows.
