3.5 behavior help

posted 4th Dec
I have no idea what to do with my son. Lately he has has the worst behavior and I am not impressed to say the least.

I will tell him not to hit his sister and then next thing I know 4444 will be crying her eyes out.

I tell him do not throw ball or objects in the house. Next second I have a soft football at my face.

333 NO sodas or junk food before dinner. He's bringing me a soda to open or chips to open. We tried the locks. But my husband forgets and rips them off or my son rips them off over time.

When I tell him not to do something or no. He screams and cries to where I literally can not take it anymore.

I walk to the restroom or something to collect my thoughts because I don't believe spanking a child does anything.

But I'm at my ends with him. He's really smart and all but it's like he hit his all time high for behavioral issues.

Please help. Ideas. Anything.

My 3.5 year old is the same way. I hate it and want my sweet child back who doesn't talk back to me and say mean hurtful things.

My 3.5 yr old is the same, psychiatrist diagnosed him with ADHD, and gave me meds for him... I'd rather repeat NO 34567632114678765 times than have him sit there like a zombie cause of the meds again.

My daughter is the same. I used to have AAAAAALLLLLLL the answers but I am so clueless  .

In regards to the junk food, I have found that with things like that, it is best to just stay positive and say "we can eat that after dinner" and put it away, not act angry, etc. and then just kind of say stuff like "I know you want it now, but we will eat it after dinner."

But........does it work? It save MY OWN sanity to not get angry, doesn't help her behavior...

Thankfully my son's a little speech delayed or else I'd hear the hurtful things.

Not saying I'm happy he is. But about that part is am. It's like he doesn't listen to crap I say or he listens and doesn't do it.

I have a STRONG feeling that he has ADHD too. But I refuse to put him on medication. Refuse!!!!!
I have ADHD bad. Lucky my mom taught me how to control it. I still have problems at work though ;/

My son was perfect before I got pregnant with 4444 literally the day I told my husband I was pregnant he started acting up. It was so weird.

About the junk food. I do tell him calmly no you can not have that. It's on the top shelf. So if he doesn't listen he can't get it and whines. But he will try and find ways to get it. Thankfully he can't reach. The sodas he can. So he brings them to me and I tell him. No because you won't eat dinner you can have juice or nothing.

It's just whatever I said nothing. As I'm trying this he just bit my husband for the second time in 2 hours. After being told you don't bite.

My daughter is that way, UGH. For example, we were at urgent care the other day and I saw a kid puking and I told her not to touch anything as we were walking past, and she ran BACK, and went *touch touch touch* all over just to ...I don't know what, lol, be independent? Show me she didn't have to listen??? I don't know.

She most DEFINITELY has ADHD, but I feel the same way you do. I just try to make sure we are almost always out of the house. We spend the majority of our time at places made for kids, zoo, indoor playground, museums, aquariums, etc. She is content and amicable in those places.

Also, cutting out TV helps a lot.

My son would go right up and say eeww gross even if I tell him to hush it.

I'd love to be always out of the house. But it doesn't help with my hubs working 60+ hours a week. 2 kids not fun.

I will have to try to cut out TV.

I've tried the reward thing. But I don't think it helps either. They shouldn't always be rewarded for good behavior. I seriously think 333 has it because we did the sticker program when PTing and he couldn't get why he didn't get a sticker for one thing and if sit him down to explain. Literally 20 seconds and he was up hoping all over. It's frustrating.

That and I could have two objects. Two different colors and point to each one saying the color. Black res black red black red. Point to none ask the color and he will say something like purple. When ever did I say purple. So I think he's a little learning delayed also. Cause we work so hard on colors and such. Bought stuff from the dollar store and all

I just want to rip my hair out at times

That is one thing I noticed when my son was in a sport. He did really well. The season ended and we are waiting for the new year to begin another sport.

Dean got so bad he couldn't even play, he would just fight and cry, didn't pay attention, didn't want to participate on the team, his 1st opening ceremony we spent in bathroom trying to get him out he refused to do it, when he's been playing basebase since he was 3ish, now he's asking to go back to batting cages, its amazing... I always thought he had some kind of attention problem, he was always blurting things out and very impulsive, now with the meds even his behavior has gotten better, he's even able to comunicate after he's had what we call his, *meltdowns* where as before he just kept fighting with us.

He's on lowest dose of adderall 5mg once a day...
