Found Out The Sex Of My Baby and Depressed!

posted 4th Dec
I found out today that I am having a girl today and I cant help but feel disappointed. I feel horrible saying this and everyone looks at me like i'm some type of monster, but I really had high hopes for another boy. I didn't want a girl and I simply said this to my family, I never said that I would not love the baby or that I would give her away or anything I just simple wasn't prepared for this. I lost my papaw a little over 2 years ago and we where really close and here lately I have missed him more and it really hit me that he wouldn't get to see my baby. I had high expectations for a boy so I could name him after my papaw and I think this is why I am so disappointed. I know it sounds horrible, but I am really a monster?

Oh momma, I felt the same way when I found out I was having another boy. You are not a monster. I know how hard it is to want a certain gender then get the opposite. Once you hold your baby the first time though you will forget all about that

Completely normal. DH and I both felt that way when we found out DD #2 was a girl.
It passed eventually, and now we are head over heels in love with her.
You are not a monster!

I'm sure you will love her the same as a boy

Be happy she is healthy. I'm so terrified with my pregnancy and I'm just praying hard for a healthy baby

I'm sure it will get easier

Not a monster. You won't always feel this way! I wanted a girl so bad. When I found out I was having a son, I was a little bummed. But...after a day or so, I got over it and now I am ECSTATIC to be having a little boy.

Just think about all the wonderful things that little girls bring. You get to experience raising a son and now you get to experience raising a daughter.

can you still incorporate his name into a girls'? i did that with my daughter. her middle name is a feminized version of my grandfather's name.

i don't think you're a monster. i understand where you're coming from. i would have been depressed if i was having another girl because i already have one and really wanted one of each. plus, my bf's family wants a name carrier. so, i was lucky, but had i not been, i would have been a little sad as well. i would have gotten over it, though, and i'm sure you will too.

Aw I'm sorry.   girls are awesome though, I'm sure you'll come around.   no of course you're not a monster!

As for the name, could you change it up a bit so it sounds some what girly? what's the name? you could always use it for a middle name.

We were pretty disappointed when e found out about dd
After a few days we got used to the idea and Gabe been thrilled about it ever since.give it sometime.

Could you modify the name to be feminine but sounding?

Aww, don't feel too bad. It's normal to feel a little let down if you get your hopes up one way and it goes the other. It's called gender disappointment and it is not uncommon.
Maybe you could work his name into her middle name somehow? Or feminize the name?

You're not a monster. It's very normal to feel this way. My sister cried when she found out she was having another girl. You will forget all about the gender soon!

She said why she wanted a boy.

OP, you are not a monster. Gender disappointment is normal and usually passes. What is your papaws name? Can you feminine it up in anyway? I have a friend who actually has a boy middle name in memory of a family member.

With my 2nd I had major gender disappointment. After about a week of being sad, depressed that I was having another boy, I decided to name him then go shopping. Seeing the girl clothes & bedding was difficult but I felt better. The day they placed that baby on my chest, instantly i knew he was my world and couldn't or wouldn't want my life without him. It will get easier. ((hugs))
What was his name...I'm sure you can come up with a feminine version!
