Delayed cord clamping/ placenta encapsulation

So im really thinking about having them delay clamping and cutting the cord until its done pulsing and giving the baby all that good nutrients and what not. If you delayed how long did you wait to cut the cord? Did you have a lotus birth full or partial at all? Jjst interested in personal experiences

Also if you wanted your placenta was it weird saying you wanted to keep it? My SO would think it was so nasty, but technically you can dry it out and mash it up and put it in capsules yourslef. Idk if i have the stomach for it or not. But i wish i could keep it and then bury it and plant a tree on it, but i dont have any property, and i doubt i can just go dig a hole and bury it.

We delayed cord clamping/cutting. I'll have to ask DH how long we waited because I'd pretty much blacked out at that point lol I want to say it was like 5 minutes.

I want to do both of those with my next baby. I had no idea there was such a thing as delayed cord clamping until after DD was born

We were going to delay cord clamping before i had to have a section. All the information i read said wait 3-5 minutes, and waiting more than 5 minutes increased the chance of jaundice.

I had asked them to delay the cord clamping...I have no idea if they did or not. It was such a rush, and by the time LO was out, I was too excited to wonder about the cord. SO did get to cut it though....as far as keeping the placenta, I wanted too, but forgot to ask them...it wasn't until I saw them put it in the garbage bag that I remembered I was going to ask for it....whoopsie! Haha

yeah luckily DH was on his game and reminded the doctor just as I was delivering that we wanted to delay clamping. I totally did NOT CARE at that point lol

My midwife always delays clamping, it's standard for her. I didn't do a full lotus bc I wanted to eat the placenta.i dehydrated it and made a tincture

I've delayed cord clamping with my last 3 kiddos until the cord stopped pulsing about 10 minutes or so. I've never done placenta encapsulation but I know people who have. They bake it to dry it out, add additional herbs, etc. grind with a mortar and scoop into capsules. I've known women to eat it as well. I just can't but to each her own.

I just asked SO if they delayed clamping the cord, and he doesn't remember...he's pretty sure they didn't, because apparently I may have been losing too much blood     I don't remember that part...haha

I tried... but because the cord was wrapped around the baby a million times, they cut it immediately. I cried   It was just another thing that was robbed from me at my hospital birth.

did you just put in the oven or use a dehydrater?? did it stink?

Sorry that happened to you. Poor hospital experiences are one of the reasons I switched to homebirthing. Although my last baby had to be born in the hospital  .

I wanna do the lotus birth..I read about it a long time ago(like right after I had my son) and I was like "I'm soooo doing this!"...so I'm gonna inform my doctor about it and tell her I want to wait...they even make pouches for the placenta so you don't have to look at it.lol

I actually paid someone to do it bc me kitchen was being remodeled. But, I have friends that have used the Chinese method and found it super easy
