Co-sleeping

posted 4th Dec
I was always told it was a really bad thing...my 13 mo old always slept in her own room in her crib. My 5 day old will only sleep in mine or dads arms at night...during the day she will sleep in her bassinet. Couple questions...could it be the darkness in our room?? I know that might sound stupid but during the day she sleeps just fine on her own. And is it really that bad for her to do this? Are we going to "spoil" her or something?

Your not spoiling her. A lot of people co-sleep. I personally wouldn't just because normally i don't move in my sleep, but sometimes i do and i would be too worried to get sleep.

IMO you can't spoil a baby. I co-slept with my son from 3 months and we are still co-sleeping now. I love it. I don't have any ideas about how to get her to sleep on her own though. I'd say if you both are okay (meaning you guys as parents and baby) with co-sleeping then do it.

You wont spoil the baby. Babies are used to being with their momma. That's all they know. I personally feel strongly about co-sleeping, I never understood why people put their babies in a room all alone but thats just me.

I plan to co-sleep with my next one, but I'm getting a co-sleeper to put next to my bed so the baby is separate, but near by when he or she will need to feed.

you can't spoil a baby, a child sure but baby only know that they need you and not how to help themselves.. as far as the co sleeping I did with all 7 of my babies and they are all fine. It's not for everyone, ppl say it can be harmful, but babies can die alone in their beds too.

We have her bassinet right next to the bed but she won't sleep there during the night she has to be held...I don't mind it I always sleep the same way...I don't sleep as deep anymore cuz I know she's there but that's okay! And dad doesn't mind either I'm just worried about converting her when she gets older...

We co sleep with our chunky man, but with the way hubs sleeps, Asher sleeps by me, he's 2 months and a couple days old. It's easy just to pop a boob in his mouth when he wakes up, then he'll go right back to sleep.

That's just it though I'm not breast feeding...does that make a difference?

Nope. I didn't breastfeed and I still found it easier to co-sleep.

Well you gotta remember, your baby is still brand new and used to be snuggled up ya know? It's normal for them to wanna be close to you. I didn't breastfeed our first and she maybe co slept with us a handful of times, for me, it's just different now that I'm BF. Mike is too hard of a sleeper, so if they go to bed before me, he puts Asher down on my pillow and mike sleeps on his own. In the beginning, Asher liked to be right beside me in the bed and would snuggle up to my face so tightly that our noses would be pressed against eachother   He's gotten better about sleeping longer when he's not snuggled up to you though.

Thank you ladies! It's good to hear its not as "dangerous" as I've heard and a lot more common
