Liar Liar Pants on fire... -.-

yeaahhh not terribly impressed with my 3yro right now. We've hit the "lying stage" ... He'll lie about anything and everything. If I tell him No to something... he'll turn right around and say "Well, so and so said I could" ... when I know for a fact this person would not. He's done naughty things right in front me, then will blame the cats or said he didn't do it.

How do you explain to a 3yro that lying is bad and you need to tell the truth? I don't want spank for it yet because I know he doesn't understand what lying and telling the truth is. Time out's out do nothing and tomorrow, I'm just going to start ignoring him any time he tells a lie and see if that might have an effect...

Any thoughts or advice would be great. Thank you.

Mine does the SAME thing with the cat! He blames the most ridiculous things on the cat, that I know she could not possibly have done. And one day he got into his fingerpaints after I told him not to...I came in the dining room and he was COVERED in green paint. I said, "Oh, did you get into your paint after Mommy said no?" and he looked me straight in the eyes and said, "No. I didn't do that."

not a lot of advice here.. I tell my kids "Jesus knows when you're lying..." and they get bug eyed and tell the truth

yup.... He blamed the cat for taking a pot full of soil off the window sill, brought it clear across the room, dumped it out beside the trash, and put the pot back on the window sill. Yeah, the cat totally did that Ashton -.-

My son is the same age and does the same thing. I just go "Well, we can tell daddy now, right?" and he immediately tells the truth, works with anyone - Nana, Grandpa, Aunt Bre - he gets all sad and tells me the truth.

We're not religious so he has no idea who Jesus is... I've told him I'll tell Santa not to come but he's a little smartass and spats back, "Well, I want talk to Santa and he will come!" ... yeah, horrible backfire on that one...

Haha I hear you...DH told him the other day to stop moving the dining room chairs and the stools in the kitchen around, and he said, "Gracie did it!" Same when DH told him to stop turning the Xbox on. And he will stand by it.

tried that today. He loves my boyfriend... So during dinner, I told Jake "Ashton threw a box at the kitty today and was mean to him" ... Jake turns to Ashton and asks him.... Ashton blatantly says no, he didn't do it. I saw the whole thing.

the other hilarious thing that happened that same morning, is the ONE time I didn't hang my purse up, he went through it, ate an entire pack of gum annnnnd.... 8 chocolate laxatives

It may be something you just have to work through. I seriously think mine does it because he thinks its funny. I mean.....dude, I just WATCHED you do this, you don't really think I'm gonna believe you, do you?

he went 3 times, during one of which he looks at me and says, "I like poopin' mahm" ... and then didn't go for like 4 days after that. I take 2 of those and I'm out of commission and smurffing my brains out for days!
