When should I head in?

posted 4th Dec
I plan on laboring at home! This is a VBA2C. My hospital is a good 45 mins away. When would be a good time to start heading in? from what I gather 5 mins apart for contractions?

never had a VBAC, so I'm not sure if that changed anything. but the L&D nurse told me not to come in until my contractions were at 5 minutes for an hour...

My dr told me to stay home as long as I felt comfortable (meaning as long as I could without being nervous about something happening with a possible rupture).

I lived an hour away from the hospital at the time and waited until I was having contractions 3-4 min apart lasting 45 seconds before I went in.

I went in at 7:30PM, they made me walk for an hour because my contractions had slowed down and was completely admitted and in the delivery room by 9:15PM. There was a lot of paperwork I had to fill out for the VBAC before going back to the delivery room. I got my epi around 1-2AM at 6cm and gave birth (vaginally) at 5AM.

Okay thanks Im worried about going in too early and risking them giving me a not so needed c-section

5 minutes apart?!?! When I went into labor w/ my daughter (she was my 2nd & was a scheduled repeat c-section but I went into labor on my own at 37wks) my contractions were 4 mins apart while we were packing for the hospital & by the time we got there they were 2 mins apart but I was only 1cm dilated & they gave me a series of 3 Terbutiline shots over 6hrs & sent us home only for me to return 24hrs later STILL in labor before the on-call OB finally agreed to do my c-section.
