What is going on with my body? * tmi *

I gave birth on Aug 20th, then at my six week check up I went on the depo shot. A week later I started spotting and spotted every single day up until a few days ago when I started a full AF. The weird thing is it's not like a period I had normally before pregnancy. I had the worse cramps ever and the blood was coming out in clots. Now it suddenly stopped and I am not bleeding anymore. Has anyone else ever had this problem with depo?

Everyone I know that has been on depo has had crazy cycles and most of the time they bleed pretty bad on and off for a long time.

I never had a period the entire time I was on depo (9 months) then when I went off of it (because I swear depo was manufactured by the devil himself) it took about a year for my period to come back and have an actual cycle.

My friend has been off of it for like 2 years and has been TTC but her cycles are still all over the place. No way would I ever get depo.

Eesh, sounds like I am going to be switching birth control after this is through. Anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to go on the pill because I am way to horrible about remembering to take medicine.

I've had the paragard IUD for almost 2 years and I like it. It has no hormones so it doesn't mess with your cycles or anything and it lasts for 10 years.

I'm trying to get off it. I got it inserted September 10th(so basically 3 months) and I have been bleeding nonstop since insertion. It pisses me off since its really my only option for bc unless my cardiologist and neurologist(I cant take estrogen for health reasons) give me permission to go back on the pill. Waiting for all that to go through right now.

Have you talked to your doctor about it? Since there are no hormones in it, it doesn't affect things like that...maybe it could be another issue or it might just be that you need the hormones to keep everything regular? That sucks though.

I recommend not getting the next shot and go on something else. I was on the depo shot for awhile and it made my ovarian cysts get so much worse. It got to the point that I was told I may ot be able to get pregnant. So glad that wasn't true.

Well, I had a miscarriage in June(in my second trimester if that makes a difference) then went on the Depo but hated that so went on the Paragard after only one shot. She said it was probably just my hormones out of whack when I went to my follow up appointment but told me to call if I was still bleeding in 2 month, which it has been. All I know is I can count on one hand how many times DH and I have had sex in the last 6 months between no sex drive from the Depo and now this. It def sucks!

It's probably the depo that's making you bleed like that then. Even one shot and it will still throw you out of whack for a while. Like I said in the previous post, my friend is still screwed up even after being off for 2 years and another girl I know bled pretty heavily for like 6 months, but she kept getting the shots and even though she got them all on time, she still got pregnant while on it. Depo is evil!
