That's pretty normal, many OBs wont even see you until 10 weeks. Don't be a diva.

I'm 8 weeks this week and all my doctor has done is do a blood test that I'd already had done a week before and then tell me I'll get a letter from the hospital for an appointment! By now I should have at least had a scan to check things are growing properly right?! He just seems to want to get rid of me! I'm not going to get an appointment until around 14 weeks so I have no idea what's going on in there!

That sounds like a pretty standard 9week OB appointment. The very earliest you can typically hear the hb with a Doppler is usually nine weeks so I think your friend was mistaken. And unless you have no idea how far along you are there is no reason for an ultrasound before 11-13 weeks for the nuchal translucency one. At this poin your baby just looks like a Lima bean anyway.

I had to switch doctors because my first doctor was horrible (here we dont see an OB until 30 weeks because of a doctor shortage) at 11 weeks all he had done was a blood test to confirm the prignancy and wouldnt test for anything else. I had wanted a pelvic exam because my mom recomended it and he refused to do one while it was safe to do so and wouldnt give me a referal for an ultrasound at all. I just went in and asked to have my files sent to my new doctor and made it clear I was very unsatisfied with the level of care i was recieving and would be telling others about the care I recieved there.

It's only necessary to get a first trimester scan if your periods are irregular, or you have a history with RPL or high risk disorders. Most doctor only do a scan at 12 weeks for the nuchal translucency and an anatomy scan. More doctors are doing scans to confirm dates, but it isn't necessary.

No not unless you have no idea when you conceived.

I didn't get HB til 11 weeks with Heathen, and I only got 1 ultrasound.
Doesn't sound like BS to me. Just because you didn't get what you wanted doesn't mean you should switch OBs

I was told last time I was pregnant that they thought I had a bicornuate uterus and had some placenta issues also. He just doesn't listen and as long as I am not bleeding, he doesn't care

Amen to that! My first doctor this pregnancy was very liberal with ultrasounds and even had 3Ds done regularly, but she was horrible as a doctor, had horrible staff and worked at a filthy hospital. My current doc doesn't do many ultrasounds at all, but will do ease of mind scans at request, still uses an old school fetal stethoscope and is AWESOME! I couldn't ask for a better doctor!

Exactly!! Op, your doctor is doing exactly what he/she should be doing. Don't be so dramatic. Any other OB you find will do the exact same thing.

My insurance actually only covers 1 ultrasound (anatomy scan) unless it's medically ordered.
My next pregnancy I know I will have more scans because I will be considered high risk after having 2 miscarriages in 4 months and not knowing why.

Well in your case i would feel differently. But op has had an issues free pregnancy thus far and it's her first. I think it's less and issue with her doctor and more an issue of her having no idea what she's talking about or what to expect.
