Dropping out

posted 4th Dec
If you ever dropped out of university for a semester, how hard was it to get going again?
I'm considering taking next semester off to save up money and spend more time with my daughter, along with hopefully saving my sanity by taking away the amount of stress over classes and homework on top of stressing about money and raising a baby while going to school full time and working part time. I just finished having a breakdown in my car over how smurffy this semester's been. I just think I need some time to get my smurf together before I snap or something. But at the same time I'm scared that I won't want to go back and finish my education next year if I do take spring off.

I had to take off a semester because I was on strict bedrest. I lost my daughter in that year also. I have yet to go back and this was 4 years ago. I've taken a few classes here and there but not full time. I told myself I would go back after a year but it hasn't happened. I also developed anxiety and ADHD in this time. I'm going back in September though!

Because I had like five months off to do nothing but hang out with my baby and work. I just didn't want to do the work again and I knew how much money and stress I would be under. It's one of my biggest regrets.

This sucks lol. I keep thinking how nice it would be to get a mental break and not have to deal with anxiety about school. It just seems like graduation is never going to happen because my school keeps coming up with new ways to keep students here longer. I'm already going to be a fifth year student at the very least.

I have 1 trimester off every year...otherwise i'd only get a couple weeks off in between trimesters - I study for trimester 1 & 2 then take trimmester 3 off. I find it easy to get back into after having a break as I can't wait to start again. This year I only studied in trimester 1 due to having to move, my fiance recovering from an op and wanting to put the money away for the baby rather than spending it on another paper. I'm planning on going back for trimester 1 next year or timester 2 maybe depending on how looking after my newborn baby goes (due 2nd Jan) I already can't wait to go back to study.

Awh it sounds like you need a break...maybe write a list of the pro's and con's of studying and then decide what 2 do. :-)

I didn't take a break and I WISH I did. I have been hospitalized THREE times since 2010, and I really needed a mental break. I also regret going from high school to college directly. I didn't really know what I wanted out of life, so now it is going to take me a total of SIX years to finish college.

Take a year off OR go very part time. I'm only taking six credit hours and will only take five credits next semester, but I will also be working two jobs as well. But I would discourage you from going full-time. It is just unnecessary, imo.

I do agree. If you are having lots of problems and anxiety I would take a break or very part time. I've also been hospitalized three times since July 2011. Most recent one being 5 and a half months away from my LO

Oh, I'm so sorry.

How far were you away from getting your degree? And what are you planning on studying?

I was having massive issues with personal life with my two hospitalizations and the other was because of school and the bullying of my instructors. It was awful. :/
