What do u think? (after ultrasound today)

posted 4th Dec
So last week I got an ultrasound done. My doctor could see the hb but that was all. She realised after my exam that my cervix is pointed back she said thats nothing bad just makes it hard for them to see the baby. She wanted me to go to the hospital because she said their machines are better for ultrasounds. I went today and the tech said she sees the same thing (which is nothing) and that my cervix is pointed away but she never told me if she still could see the hb. She told me to follow up with my doctor and that maybe Im not as far as they thought. After I left the hospital I started bleeding not heavy. I should be about 12 weeks and at 6 weeks I had bleeding too but cervix was still shut so they said to wait and see what happens. I know going to the er wouldnt do much because if I miscarry they cant stop it. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Can you call your doc officer to see if the tech sent over the ultrasound to their office so he can tell you exactly what te tech saw?

Not sure what to say about this but good luck and I hope everything turns out in a positive way.. I know at 12 weeks they should def be able to see something and im pretty sure the HB should be visible seeing as though its audible on a doppler at this point.

That's weird...I have a tilted pelvis with a deep cervix, I am at 8 weeks and they did an ultrasound and were able to see everything just fine :-S Not sure why they would tell you that would make it weirder but yeh maybe you are much earlier than they initially thought? That would make sense

I'm pretty sure they should be seeing something now...I'd be on the phone already.

Good luck.

They cant see much when they try to give me normal ultrasounds either hence the internals where they see everything fine. I would call ur doc about the bleeding and ask for an internal

Im sure with your bleeding issue the dr can get those results quicker. If nothing else at least the hospital could do an exam or ultrasound and see whats going on

Just talked to my nurse she said she hasnt got the results yet but will look over them as soon as she gets them. She said all i can do is wait but to go to the er if the bleeding gets heavy, I get pains or pass any clots. I hoped she would ease my mind but it was what I already knew

Yeh wtf..they've done all of mine so far internally, and the one they are planning next month will also be internal. My Dr said they don't start doing external US until the 4th month usually.

Your cervix is supposed to face your back during pregnancy. It's called a posterior cervix and it faces back because the uterus becomes more and more anteverted to further along you are (think of a straw in a glass. The top of it tilts to the right while the bottom tilts to the left.) Unfortunately, unless you have a tilted and incarcerated uterus, they should be seeing A LOT more than just a heartbeat at 12 weeks. I hope everything winds up being alright.
