re: circumcision (should insurance cover it?)

Don't think people aren't being schooled, I've seen a few women state they had decided not to Circ due to information provided by others on BG. However that doesn't matter at all, your whole point is not sharing information it is simply to be "better" and throw out insults and be demeaning so as I posted before       because that is the only language your attitude will understand.

No, you still missed my point.

I have no problem with information given to help a person make a decision about whether to circ or not.

I have a HUGE problem with people berating others, name calling and using scare tactics to make other parents feel poorly about their legal choice.

So you can pretend you know me and my point all you want, but it's obvious you are just one of those people looking for an arguement.

Give or take a few things and you've pretty much described yourself there, well done.

LOL..I just don't get why everyone gets all worked up about it. I am sure there are stories out there somewhere, but how many men do you knwo that have mommy/daddy problems cause they were circumcised? I just feel we have bigger issues then this. If you dont want to circum your son then smurf don't. If we are going to get all technical then those who pierce their daughters ears are abusing their children. Oh and when I say "you" I mean in general.

This debate went downhill fast there is actual facts being discussed by women expressing non circ views and a whole heap of name calling coming from the other side dissmissing valid points with no actual evidence to support there decision! Just because something is legal does not make it right and the law is changing all the time for that reason!

At the end of the day no medical organisation anywhere in the world recommends routine circumcision of boys. Many organisations state that there is no medical indication for routine circumcision, including the RACP, the British Medical Association, and the American Academy of Paediatrics.

So u can say its legal and its ur right to choose but that doesnt mean its medical intervention or that its medically nessesary or that it prevents any type of stds and its a fact that the possible complications are more likely to occur than the utis u are trying to prevent.

Awesome. If you don't want to circumsise your son, then don't.

By the way... this is a direct quote from the AAP:
A recent analysis by the AAP concluded that the medical benefits of circumcision outweigh the risks.

You should probably reevaluate your "facts".

After a comprehensive review of the scientific evidence, the American Academy of Pediatrics found the health benefits of newborn male circumcision outweigh the risks, but the benefits are not great enough to recommend universal newborn circumcision. The AAP policy statement published Monday, August 27, says the final decision should still be left to parents to make in the context of their religious, ethical and cultural beliefs.

I love that u left out the rest of the quote lol they still dont reccomend it

okay, here is the ENTIRE paragraph:

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) finds that circumcision has potential medical benefits and advantages, as well as risks. A recent analysis by the AAP concluded that the medical benefits of circumcision outweigh the risks. We recommend that the decision to circumcise is one best made by parents in consultation with their pediatrician, taking into account what is in the best interests of the child, including medical, religious, cultural, and ethnic traditions and personal beliefs.
Your pediatrician (or your obstetrician if he or she would be performing the circumcision) should discuss the benefits and risks of circumcision with you and the forms of analgesia that are available.

And the australian pediatrics dont think in western society that the risks do outway the benifits! It really doesnt matter coz some ppl are still going to do it and some ppl will not!

I dont really even care what americans do u guys are the only ones who think its such a great idea! Anywho im well over this debate coz quite frankly its silly for me to be involved and being an australian its not something i need to worry about. =)
