How did you find your pediatrician?
posted 4th Dec
I need a new pediatrician. Ours is really nice; it's just that we have different philosophies regarding raising children and the medical practices that come with it (vaccinating, CIO, solids, cereals, giving water, etc.) and I don't want to have to fight with her every appointment. I don't know how many times I have to tell her "I don't feel comfortable doing that with Wesley. We decided to do ________."
I want to maybe call a midwife and ask which doctor she would recommend, but I worry that she would just choose one associated with the hospital (which is the office we already attend).
How did you find your midwife?
Anyone in the Newark, DE area that knows a good one?

My OB when I was pregnant with K gave me a recommendation and I really like them (they are twins that run a practice together).

I picked the pediatrician I liked the best in nicu. He was a family doctor not just a pediatrician. I like it better cause he can see the whole family and get an idea about why our family is like and stuff. He is a bit more laid back then the pediatrician I was originally assigned.

they gave me the option to use the doctor that was on-call the day I delivered or pick another. after seeing him with my son I liked him, and friends used him as well, so we stuck with him when we left. after that, when my other son was born, we switched to him when we left the hospital. but he's retired now, and we're in the army. so tricare(insurance) assigns us, but I didn't like the doctor my kids had here so I requested a switch. we meet the new doctor next week.

My pediatrician was chosen based on my interaction with them in the hospital and some "Facebook research" lol. I asked my friends that lived in my area who they suggested. I don't regret picking my Pediatrician for one minute. She is awesome, totally pro breastfeeding (and will listen to your concerns and take them into consideration) and doesn't push certain issues (such as I cosleep my 13 week old baby). She is also willing to send you to a specialist for a second opinion if you request it.
