She is old enough to understand consequences. I would talk to her and let her know that if she does it again she will lose a privilege. You could also try a rewards system. Let her know if she is good every day she can pick a prize from the prize box. Just spend a few bucks at the dollar store. It will give her positive motivation to be good.

Either way next time you watch her she should be punished in some way and told again how wrong and dangerous that was.
If you want to put her in the car for time out just get in with her or don't close all the doors....

yes dont do it it the car are you able to drive her to school? take her to the bus if she misbehaves then she goes to time out even if that means missing the bus she will finish her time out
