At what age?

Can a child have tubes put in their ears? My daughter turned 5 months old today and has had 4 ear infections. She's going back today for another re-check. The liquid antibiotics didn't work so she had to get shots of rosephin.. the infection went away after that, but she's had fluid in both ears for almost her entire life..had it 2 months, it went away for a couple weeks and now it's back. She is showing signs of minor hearing loss so he is writing her a referral today for an ent specialist.

usually at a year old i think maybe a couple months younger but im not sure also when she eats keep her head as elevated as possible it should help

I think my niece was about a year to a year and a half old. She was constantly getting ear infections, too, with some nasty gunky drainage. She got the tubes and didn't have any more ear infections, and then the tubes fell out on their own within a year or two(she's 5 now) and they haven't needed to be put back in.

She sits upright to eat because her reflex is terrible otherwise.

I figured she'd have to be a year old. Poor thing  

think the couple from 19 kids and counting had tubes put in the youngest ears at 7 months, but I can be wrong. Ask your pedi when she sees him.

I had ear infections back to back when i was a child I would get off the meds and that night i would be back in the er with another double ear infection. I had this till I was one and I guess that is when they started looking into putting tubes in my ears but at one the infections stopped so I never ended up needing them. My hearing is perfect and had no long term complications from them.

ok good yea letting them lay down and drink can cause ear infections i hope you can get tubes in soon i know its horrible to have an ear infection!  

My LO got them at 7 months.

I was 14 months and my niece was 15 months.
