Idk why you have to pay for him to be on the bc. And let him know that by signing that affidavit of parentage he can never fight paternity and will be rapaoible for hold support if that ever arises anytime in the distant future. Just so he knows what he's Getting into.

I had a friend who's husband did that when he was young and thought the kid was his. Well come to find out he wasn't via DNA test when she took him to court for cs. The court said he has to pay since he signed the affidavit of parentage. So for 18 years he's bound to paying for a child that's not his.

I *think* the biological father has to sign over his rights first.

Even then I'm not sure if your new boyfriend would be able to sign. It's like he's adopting your child so I dunno.

He shouldn't be fraudulently signing a legal document certifying himself as the biological parent of that child anyways. The biological father needs to go on the birth certificate, or it needs to be blank... Unless I'm mistaken him knowingly signing that certificate and knowing it's not his child is fraud or something...

And I swear, I thought by BC you meant birth control, so I clicked this thinking I'd find some new birth control that SO could take instead of me, LOL.

ETA: I could be wrong about the birth certificate thing, that's just what I was told when SIL had her fiance sign the certificate for his child, and they thought she wasn't his kid...

why would you have to pay to put him on the BC? just put him on there. sperm donor will have to pay alot of money and its takes a lot of time to change it that if he doesnt want to be there like you said hes not going to do anyway

As for the question, I say leave it blank. If you and your SO ever split up, then he's stuck paying child support for a kid that isn't his. My ex is doing this for his "son" because they signed a paternity affidavit.

It's fraud... if he wants rights to the child then leave the father blank and have him take the proper steps to adopt the child in the future.

I thought it was supposed to be birth control as well  

Everything I've read to look this up says it's fraud, and if the BD decided to actually claim his rights, her fiance could get in deep trouble for signing it knowing that it was false.

And that child deserves and NEEDS his or her paternal information. What if the LO gets sick, and the answer is in the paternal genetics, that they will assume, rightfully, is the fiance's because he's on the birth certificate?

It's not a good road to go down.
