Spying on your children.

ok its all there. lol I hate when I hit enter instead of tab. lol
Ok so the topic is would you ecer spy on your teenaged children.
Computers in their room, and getting the "keystroke" program to see where they are going on the net or what they are talking about.
Tracking devices in their cell phones, or recording gps systems in the car so you can check where they have been.
Following them around when they leave the house to see if they are really where they say they are.
Going through their school bags and bedrooms, reading diaries and other stuff.
Will you do it, or have you done it? Is it based on gender. like you would your daughter but not your son? and so forth.
If you dont agree,, what do you think of parents that do spy on their kids?

If they ever give me reason to but not just because.

If they give you a reason to not trust them then i'm all for it.
Here's a situation that my mom is going through with a child whom is 13 and she is his legal guardian. He has been caught smoking TEA at school,. Yes tea. Well I kept telling her I see him talking like he does drugs on fb etc and really think its not a cry for attention I really think he's doing drugs. I suggested giving him a home drug test because I had a gut feeling, and with everything going on someone can call dcf and say he is getting high and its all over fb. Well she wouldn't do it because she didn't want to invade his privacy, Well she got a call from a police officer this morning and he was busted smoking weed right before school!

I think i wouldn't spy on my kids unless I feel like something wrong is happening to them.
quoteposted 4th Dec
no I wouldn't, but I don't plan on letting her have a computer in her bedroom either
quoteposted 4th Dec
No, I wouldn't. I want to raise a freedom loving daughter who is weary of the government spying on her. So, it would almost be hypocritical if I, as Big Brother, spied on her when I don't believe it's a good thing at all.

I never did with my son. After what is going on with my cousin and his daughter, I might change my mind LOL.. 16 years old and he found over 2500!! emails to a 24 year old in Austrlia. Nasty ones. They made me blush. and I am a pervert with a potty mouth. Of course it has blown up into a big court battle including a Judge in Australia. Long story

Unless I had reason to, no, I wouldn't spy on my kids.
Funny, there was a woman on Oprah who basically stalked her daughter. Thats creepy as smurf

I would, but not unless I had a reason to.

If I thought my child was endangering themselves or others. Maybe I would. I am all for kids learning things on their own. You can only carry them so far in life and then they need to learn how to behave in society themselves.
I believe spying makes things worse for a lot of teens. And makes them do whatever they are doing in the first place, they would do it more. kwim?
I just couldnt see myself invading my childs privacy ever. Unless it was serious like hurting people or robbing houses etc.....
