breastfeeding and sippycup Q

just wondering, with my first son I didn't get the chance to breastfeed him (due to a very rough start) anyway he was on the bottle and the advice I was given was to wean him from the bottle at around 6 months.

This time around i am breastfeeding, my baby is almost 7 month old and I was wondering if I should wean him from the breast too and put him on a sippy ?
this might be a stupid question but I'm not really sure on what to do

As long as he is nursing you don't need to introduce sippy, if you don't want too.

My LO hates bottles but loves a sippy cup. lol He is 9 months and still BFing.

Not unless you want to pump. There's nothing wrong with Bfing until the relationship is not mutually satisfying anymore. It is bea to bf at least a year. You can still introduce a sippy with water or pumped milk. And still bf.

I'm not planning on giving formula, i would pump and give him my milk in a sippy.

I would still BF as long as you want too, but don't pump and put the milk in a sippy... My sons pedi said this is a big no-no. If i were you I'd keep nursing until a year and switch to a sippy w whole cows milk

You can pump some to introduce the sippy. But t doesn't mean u have to stop Bfing either.

Thanks for the advice I didn't know i wasn't supposed to put my breastmilk into a sippy

I've always been told to wean from bottle at age 1  

also i'd love to leave the house for more than 2 hours without my baby with me, but because he won't take anytype of bottle i was thinking maybe a sippy would be the right thing to do ?

I don't think they have to wean from a bottle at 6 mos either. I think it's just when they suggest introducing a sippy. It doesn't really mean u have to stop the regular feedings. But just so they learn to drink from something else.

Actually Bfing is recommended until 2 when the child self weans, or when the relationship isn't mutually satisfying anymore. My dd was 2.5 when she self weaned. And it's prolly diff than formula recommendations because bm still has benefits to a toddler because of immunities whereas formula doesn't.

Whatever works for you momma!!! At that age a sippy is perfectly fine for them to have so if you can pump and use the sippy to b able.to leave for more than a couple hours then i'd atleast try it   I'm not sure why the pedi says no-no to use sippy w breastmilk but if it works for you i'd do it

I'll try to look into it but I wont give him breastmilk into a sippy until I'm sure it s ok to do so

It is okay to do. Pedis all have their own opinions mine has said it was fine.

you can pump and put it in a sippy and you don't have to wean from nursing at any specific time.
