breastfeeding with 4 kids under 5?

posted 4th Dec
I will have an almost 1 1/2 year old, 2 3/4 yr old and an almost 4 1/2 year old when we have our next baby (if all goes as planned) and im thinking about trying to bf this time around.

Am I absolutely nuts? Im afraid I will be so overwhelmed by it with 3 other small children running around!

If anything it'll be easier. One less thing to prepare. You aren't tied down when Bfing (maybe the first couple weeks when u get used to it) but u can put baby in a wrap and run around and bf at the same time.

I'm planning on BFing, I will have a 4yr old, 3.5 yr old and just turned 2 yr old when this baby is born. I think bottle feeding would be harder for me, but then it's not my first time Bfing. So nope, I don't think you're nuts, and I hope it works out for you!

I nurse my LO and had a 2 year old, 3 year old and 5 year old when she was born! It's hard, but not impossible! Now she is 16 months old and still nursing! And I'm pregnant with #5! Good luck!

You're not crazy, you want to give your baby the best! You can wear your baby and Breastfeed at the same time (takes some practice!), which would make your life easier. You're going to be tired enough without getting up 6 times a night to make bottles!

this! no bottles to wash, or prepare. I shopped, did chores, cooked etc... EVERYTHING with baby latched on. no big deal

Oh yeah this reminded me. Sleep. Ahhh just letting baby latch while you sleep is wonderful   never having to get out of bed or sit up or get stimulated. You get much better sleep

I didnt really even think about that. It drives me nuts being tied to the chair while I give my youngest a bottle. The whole I'm I sit there I'm thinking about everything I need to be/ should be doing haha

Thanks!

She was a very difficult baby, she was colicky and only liekd me. She wanted to nurse at least every hour or hour and a half. She wasn't happy if she wasn't latched on! It got easier abvout 6 months though and even easier about 8 months when she finally started eating solids! But, she was very demanding, out of my 4 kids, she has been the onhly one like that! So, hopefully yours wont be like her! lol I wouldnt trade her for anything, but she is the hardest baby I've had so far!

I had four 4 and under and breastfed all of them (they were 4.25, 3.25, and 13 months when baby #4 arrived), it wasn't any harder for me with the fourth than the first in fact in my experience it's SOOOOOOOO much easier. You no longer have to stop and go make a bottle. If baby is hungry, no matter where you are you have what you need. I have often nursed while helping my older two with school work, giving the others baths, in the middle of the night (you don't have to leave the bed even to make the bottle just pull out the milkies, making dinner (with baby in the ergo) etc. I actually did give my first and second pumped bottles but my third and fourth never had a bottle and went straight to sippy cups for other drinks eventually.

I am now expecting #5 and will definitely be breastfeeding again (am still nursing my 13 month old for now as well so may tandem we'll see). Unless my baby was maybe in daycare I honestly couldn't imagine nursing not being the easiest option.
